I worked at the local government in Palm Beach County at an election official office for twelve years. My previous example relates to an experience involved my head boss, who is the elected official, his secretary, and the secretary’s daughter, who was one of the county commissioners for fifteen years. Sadly, the county commissioner spouse accepted money, gifts and bribes in exchange for favors, with the awareness of his wife as the acting commissioner and her acquaintances. The unpleasant and unethical story published after the first commissioner got caught in a scandal and found guilty for selling and gambling the county property. Shortly after, his constituent, my boss secretary’s daughter was a person of interest due to the relation of her husband and his business. Her husband’s relation to his perpetrators created a major humiliation for her family and public officials that include my head boss. As a result, my head boss had to relief his personal secretary of her position due to adverse impact toward his office and political status. It was an unfortunate situation, but the commissioner received punishment in federal prison due to federal corruption, and charged for misuse of public position, nepotism and, “erosion of public trust.” The crime fits the find. This story regarding an employee who got hired through the head boss. The head boss decided to place the new employee in my department without the knowledge or consent of the department manager. The department manager received notice of her new employee until his start date. The manager’s actions was not receptive to the head boss decision. Therefore, she showed very little interest in training the new employee. As a concern person, I tried to assist the new employee with training materials and information, but I was not to assist or get involved with the employee training process. At the moment, I witnessed unethical behavior amongst other coworkers and the department manager. Unfortunately, the new employee were mistreated by the manager. Unfortunately, he was on probation and a few months later terminated for performance issues. The department manager successful devise her skim to terminate the new employee. The information later revealed her contribution towards the selecting and hiring process of this employee was not of significant because she had very little to do with his hiring process.
