There may come a time when you believe you have a need to hire a private investigator. Perhaps you are attempting to locate someone, or you want to find out if your spouse is cheating on you. Maybe you just want to run background checks on a new employee. Whatever the reason, you need to know how to choose a qualified and trustworthy private investigator. The following are a few important things to look for when doing your research.

Look for a licensed private investigator
Make sure that the private investigator you are considering for hire is licensed. You should first research what the requirements are for your state. Requirements differ greatly from one state to another. In fact, there are seven states that have no requirements for licensing at all. In the state of California, where we operate, the standards are high, and they include a stringent examination that must be passed.

The investigator should have a background in law enforcement
