Belshaw surveyed a random selection of licensed private investigation agencies in Texas approximately 256 with a response of 91; questionnaires directed to the owner/managers. The methodology used for the research quantitatively comprised of 45 questions. Furthermore, the concentration for the development of the survey questions selected from the University of North Texas PI program (Belshaw, 2012). From here on, the response resulted that a majority of the licensed PI agency there is a need for more academic professionalization in this field of work. Typically, there is a certain mystic about a private investigator (PI) from Hollywood dramas. Private investigators can bring vital and crucial resources, especially for law enforcement communities. The uniqueness pointed out by the author, collaboration with the police department help to focus on solving high profile cases. Therefore, the essence of this teamwork is not to undermine the professionalism of the police; PI can help solve cases before its moves into a cold case (Irvine, 2017). For example, when the police department gets stacked on a case, it is through hiring private investigators who can view the case through fresh new eyes that it gets solved or more reliable evidence collected. Furthermore, Private investigators have more resources and able to enter more places than police officers. Since most of the private investigators are former police officers, are private citizens not restricted by the laws like a warrant neither jurisdiction (Irvine, 2017).
