Private Dancer

As I was added to the schedule early in the week, I was not quite prepared for how different things were on Friday night. First of all, there were so many more dancers on the floor. After a couple of hours, we transitioned to a rotation where two dancers are on stage at the same time. Each dancer basically has half of the stage; first song is performed around the back pole, second song the dancer moves up to the front of the stage while a new dancer joins them in the back.

So far I had restricted myself to just dancing on stage. Angel and Sky keep telling me that the real money is in private dances. They also told me about the champagne room and said this was ultimately where I wanted to be. A customer can rent out the space

There aren’t any doors, the divider just gives the customers the feeling that they have some privacy. Along the back wall are big cushioned chairs with small cocktail tables in between them. In front of all the chairs are small boxes which are actually the private stages we are supposed to perform on. Back here the dancer has the option of getting much closer to the customer, even dancing over them as they sit in the chair. Touching is allowed, but there are guidelines. Nothing in the genital area, and customers are not allowed to touch our breasts. But hey; customers are drinking, dancers are drinking, and sometimes things happen. That’s just the way it is. Or so I’ve …show more content…
I sit on the edge of his chair and wait for a new song to start. A private dance is normally the length of one song, but sometimes the DJ will announce buy-one-get-one private dances. Dancers also have the option of offering their customers better prices for multiple dances, but typically it is about twenty-five dollars per dance.

As I’m sipping my wine, I notice Angel walking in with a customer. I motion with my eyes to the chair closest to me, hoping that she will realize that I want her to sit close so I can follow her lead. She seems to understand, and brings her guy to a chair nearby. The guy smiles at me and says hi to Travis, so apparently he doesn’t mind being so close to us. I grin at Angel and she winks back. The current song is coming to an end, so I place my drink on the table and step up onto my “stage” box. Angel does the

On September 9th I attended a Phi Slam event called Kaleidoscopic Color-Dressed Chromatic Dance Fest. This was a social dance event that is completely dry and it is essentially a giant dance party. The guys in Phi Slam, which is a Christian organization that is similar to a fraternity but they do not do typical frat things such as drinking, hazing or smoking, set up the event. Phi Slam has events just like fraternities and sororities do. This event was just one of the many events they put on throughout the year.…

I will start this by being brutally honest, I tend to indulge myself in things others would refer to as “mushy crap”; ice cream, boy bands, badly written romance novels, all things I enjoy, along with Waitress. The musical based closely off of a 2007 film of the same name, opened on Broadway in April of 2016 and has been experiencing a successful run so far, with a tour scheduled for 2017. I had the pleasure of seeing Waitress this summer, in early July and, admittedly, shed a tear or two, or twenty. The journey to Broadway began with a workshop in 2014.…

The room itself was grand and ancient, with walls of rough hewn stone, polished granite floors, and a ceiling as high as ten men. There were eight long tables, the shortest on a raised dais along the far wall, and seven more set orthogonal to the first and extending to the entry. Sheaves of wheat and sprays of spring blooms adorned the walls, and cornucopias spilled fruits, nuts and candies onto each table. There were dancers, at least a dozen of them, draped loosely in silks of gold and rich green, ribbons of fabric that swayed as they swayed, dipped as they dipped, and fluttered about them as they spun. Along walls and in corners, on tables and among revelers, they danced in time to a rhythmic tune—singly and in pairs and trios, all moving with an agile grace, seducing guests with limber acrobatics and inviting smiles.…

Combine neon dancing lights, creatively-named beverages, odd proposals, complimentary Oreos and only slightly awkward dancing, and what do you get? A Semi Formal! Upon walking into the “Winter Wonderland” created by the Senior Class, you would see a large dance floor bordered by tables to the left, refreshments by the far wall and a DJ on the right. Each table was littered with packets of Oreos, just like any five year-old’s (or Senior’s) greatest sugar-crazed dream.…

Matt Harding from "A Private Dance? Four Million Web Fans Say No" (McGarth) would best be described as Couragous. He dances "at lunchtime or during an awkward pause"(McGarth) as a for of "nervous tic" but he doesn't let this stop him in any way, he actually embraces it and it takes him to new levels. he could have let his nervous tic embarress him and even hinder him, but instead he has traveled to "69 different locations, including India, Kuwait, Bhutan, Tonga, Timbuktu"(McGarth) and many more. This started as a friend of his videotaping him dancing and posted in on the web, on the third attempt the internet swept through and loved it.…

The large speakers that surround the filled room begin to vibrate as the loud unknown voice begins to announce my name. I now know that it is my time to shine. While standing behind the long, red curtains I begin to do what comes natural; lifting my head as if I am looking above and beyond the ceiling that lies above me with a smile projecting from my face, standing tall with strong energy from my toes to the tips of my fingers and pushing my shoulders back to respectfully greet my judges. The adrenaline pounds in my chest, but confidence over powers and I am nothing but ready to entertain my audience. The loud roars of encouraging chanting and cheering rings in my ears as I walk towards the spotlight that gives off a warm radiant heat where I hit my beginning position.…
