Privacy Should Not Be Dead

Privacy. Freedom from unauthorized intrusion; as defined by Merriam Webster. In today's day and age with technology evolving by the second, people either become paranoid or complacent in the realm of privacy. There are in-betweens, of course--but they are rare. With hackers increasing their skills, terms & agreements getting longer with more and more clauses and loopholes, and celebrity's private information leaked every other week, it's hard not to find oneself deleting history and turning of location tracking. But the world shouldn't have to be like this. Privacy is not, and should not be dead. The problem is people entrusting all their information in programs and applications and companies and anonymous users taking advantage of that.
One shouldn't have to sacrifice their personal information to be online. Credit card numbers shouldn't be required to access information about a topic being studied. They should not be, but they sometimes are. The reason people believe privacy is dead, is because they have killed it themselves. By being careless and unobservant, people give up their privacy without even knowing it. It is alive and well, but people are unable to find it because companies do not want them to. There is a problem with laziness and lack of initiative in that, but the bigger problem is what is accessed through a simple name and email address. People find it shocking when their names and numbers and personal emails end up on black-market websites and their pictures on sketchy ads on the side of Facebook; but with people willingly posting and giving up this information, there is no way to have a security blanket from their faces and names to be stolen and crafted into a new identity or alter ego on the vast realm of the
