Privacy And Confidentiality In The Attorney-Client Relationship

Improved Essays
Privacy is taken seriously in most business settings and confidentiality is very essential in the attorney-client relationship. In my past experiences with your firm, I have always had confidence in your confidentiality concerning my personal and business affairs. If I did not have trust in your confidentiality, I would have never used your services for my business and personal affairs. I know that is what you expect as well. Abigail Kemp, recognized me at the restaurant and came to the table I was sitting at and greeted me. Mrs. Kemp then commended me on the establishment of the endowment scholarship I had recently

Clarice P. Jones Referral Information: Clarice Precious Jones was referred to me by Ms. Weiss at the welfare office. While Ms. Jones stated she would no longer be relying on welfare, Ms. Weiss felt it was important that Ms. Jones was set up with an opportunity for counseling and therapeutic services. She was referred to me because I offer very low cost services on a sliding scale in a facility that runs much like a clinic for mental health services. From Ms. Weiss’ referral information, I learned that Ms. Jones is an HIV positive, teenage mother of two who is struggling to find a way to support her children on her own while also being able to remain in her alternative school program at least until she can achieve her GED. During our first meeting I reviewed the Client-Counselor Service Agreement with Ms. Jones.…

The attorneys and police officer I think were unethical. They violated several ethical violations; one was to be fair, and another to behave with integrity, they are not above the law. I find their behavior incomprehensible given the fact that they all represent justice in there line of work. The attorney’s unethical behavior promoted unethical behaviors in several people. The low paying attorney staff member, attorney Filthaut, Melissa the paralegal, and officer Fernandez who lost his job for his part.…

Ethical Dilemmas of Defense Attorneys Defense attorneys have to face the ethical dilemma every day of whether or not to defend their client as well as whether or not to maintain that lawyer-client privilege. The lawyer-client privilege provides a security blanket for the client. Under this privilege, the client can almost tell the lawyer just about anything in confidence and not have to worry about the possible fear of being judged or incriminating themselves. A defense attorney serves as a guide that you can basically tell all your deepest darkest secrets to. However, some of those secrets may not always be able to be kept confidential, so be careful about what secrets you share.…

According to a 2013 study, between 60 and 90 percent of defendants require publicly-funded attorneys (Giovanni 6). Defenders across the nation today, though, face much resentment and animosity dating back to the Tough-on-Crime era when they were scapegoats for many societal issues simply because they were helping the accused. Unfortunately, if a defendant was in court, then he was assumed guilty by many—especially if he was black and poor—and this supposition continues to pervade opinions today. These reactions result in high pressure on politicians not to allocate money from state budgets to Public Defenders Offices. The animosity has also led to the subjugation of Public Defenders to harassment and even death threats, such as in one email which read "DIE SCUMBAG LAWYERS!…

As I entered my senior year of undergrad, I began looking for an opportunity to work with people requiring any form of health care assistance. Luckily, I came across an opening for a Personal Care Assistant (PCA) position in the school newspaper. At the time, I didn’t know exactly what a PCA was, but I knew I wanted to work one-on-one with patients, and this job would allow me to do exactly that. After I went through all the training that was required, it was finally time to meet my client. The only details my supervisor told me about my client were: his name, that I would be assisting in driving him around in his handicap accessible van, getting him dressed, monitoring him during his walking exercises, and that he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy as a child and was bound to a wheelchair.…
