“What can I do for you Your Highnesses?”
“We are under attack and leaving immediately. Get dressed NOW!” The annoyance and impatience shining out of the dark brown eyes of her mother and father, when he glanced over from his conversation. With another curtsy Lysanne walked so fast she was almost running to her closet. Maria was already pulling a traveling dress out in the royal colors of silver and yellow. Quickly changed and in silver flats, jamming her tiara in her hair she was out of the closet and through the bedroom to the sitting room in under three minutes. The bright lights in the room reflected off the jewels in her tiara, dress, and shoes.
“Let’s go. Princess Lysanne you are going with Captain Jeffory. We will meet you at Fort Canyon.” Her father spoke with an authority that told her not to argue. She was not surprised; she expected this much, though that expectation did nothing to curb her frustration. Following the group toward the door she suddenly remembered that she did not have her book. Turning, she found Maria holding it out to her.
“Thank you Maria, you are a life saver. Let’s go.”
