Princess Diana Social Leader

A social leader is defined by many different qualities, such as bravery, communication, commitment, charisma and honesty. Nobody has demonstrated these qualities as well as Princess Diana. She showed bravery when she went into AID wars and touched the people when nobody else wanted to. She was the first person to ever shake hands with someone with AIDS. Showed kindness to those with other diseases instead of shunning them. Princess Diana showed commitment because she was totally committed to those in need. There were areas that needed buildings, food or medicines and Princess Diana helped them by donating her time or money. She also listened and heard the cry of people. Diana got an assistant job at the Young England Kindergarten. Kay Seth-Smith, the owner of the schools said, “she was very good at getting down to the children’s level both physically and mentally” (BOOK PG 20) In 1980, Philip De Pass asked her to come to his home for the weekend to watch Prince Charles play polo. After the match, Diana talked to Charles and they both knew that she and Prince Charles would see each other again. They took many weekend trips together and a year later in February Prince Charles asked Diana to marry him. On July 29, 1981 the big wedding day was here. Diana met with her dress designers, hairdresser, and makeup artist. The wedding was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Diana got a new title called Princess of Wales. After the wedding, they went to the Buckingham palace and went on the balcony and kissed. Then, they caught a private train to their honeymoon. Once they returned home from the honeymoon, they had two main homes. They stayed in Kensington Palace or their country home in Highgrove. Princess Diana loved children and was ecstatic when she found out she was pregnant in the summer of 1981. On June 21,1982, Princess Diana checked into St. Mary’s Hosptial in London. She gave birth to a son and named him William Arthur Philip Louis. Two years later, Charles and Diana were expecting their second child. In February she went to the Henry Street Shelter in New York’s East Side. She wanted to meet the clients and even wanted to spend time with the families. Her family was living different lives. Prince William and Henry went to boarding schools and only came home one the weekends. On the weekends, Diana would pick up the boys and go visit Prince Charles in Highgrove. Princess Diana did not like how Charles was just interested in scholarly and spiritual subjects. Princess of Wales was president of 29 charities by the 1990s.
