Princess Cordelia-Personal Narrative

Superior Essays
My father was very protective over our family sword. He was so protective that I, Princess Cordelia, his daughter, couldn't even touch it. Not a single poke or a tap. It was awful to be honest. Father had told me many stories when I was younger of the battles that took place on this soil hundreds of years ago and how my ancestors fought to conquer this land with that same sword. And after listening to them, I couldn't resist. It was impossible. But I knew I couldn't. Father would be crushed if he learned that I messed with it. I tried holding in the urge for about a decade now and as of right now I'm still fighting it.

I leaned forward and stared intently at Father's blade, admiring the intricate designs carved into it. This family blade has killed thousands of men for centuries. There was no doubt that this was a beautiful and dangerous sword, and I knew that Father would never let me touch it in a million years. But somehow I had an urge to trace my fingers over the carvings. Then, I took a step forward, reaching for the hilt.

My hand was mere inches away until I heard a voice. "Princess Cordelia, King Cassius needs you to meet him in the dining room," Giselle said as she walked into the room. I quickly jumped back and examined the weaponry in the room, facing away from the door.

I turned around and greeted Giselle

"Are you mistaken? I would never see Alisia as an enemy. King Ezra, Queen Farah, and Prince Elliot are wonderful people, the kindest. I don't believe you, Father. It just doesn't make sense." King Ezra and Queen Farah were very good friends of my father and visited Walford frequently. They were so pleasant and kind that it would make it impossible for anyone to hate them. Prince Elliot, their 19-year old son, was just as amazing, well, from what I've heard. Although I've never met him before, I've heard many stories about him through merchants and travelers. He was very charming according to Joselyn and Isabel and he was also very

In both “The Princess Paradox” by James Poniewozik and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” by Peggy Orenstein, the princess culture is agreed upon; however, the authors vary their opinions of how the fairytail dream of pink dresses and sparkly crowns came to be. Poniewozik opens up his article by addressing the “kick-ass culture,” while Orenstein focuses on how princesses have diminished the feeling of confidence and independence that young girls should experience. While some may believe that princesses show the younger generation that females possess the ability to accomplish anything a male can, others believe that this trend aggressively encourages the idea of “perfection” in our modern society. Both “The Princess Paradox” and “Cinderella and Princess Culture” discuss the rules and…

Margaret Walker made a resolution that she would depict the realistic, anti-Gone with the Wind version of slave culture within her novel Jubilee, no matter how many years and decades of research and writing it took her (Pettis 13). As many critics have mentioned, by focusing on the practical, unheroized lives of slaves as well as on the folk tradition that helped the slave community maintain a level of self-respect through a world that constantly tried to rip every shred of dignity from them, Walker told the forgotten narrative through the official history of the South, that of the slave who was only trying to wake up alive every morning (Cataliotti 187). In Jubilee, Margaret Walker recreates the unique culture of the slave community through the use of folk tradition, such as epigraphs, song, and knowledge of the land, along with the focus…

However, there appears to dichotomy between her relationships with these two groups. With the peasantry, Elizabeth was primarily concerned with pageantry and public appearances for purposes maintaining control over public sentiment.
