Prince Hamlet is trying to avenge his father's death but loses his sanity along the way. He puts on a play to show how claudius kills King Hamlet by poisoning him called “Mouse trap” “Haste me to know't, that I, with wings as swift as meditation or the thoughts of love, may sweep to my revenge” (Act 1, scene 5, page 2) he is paralyzed with grief of his father's death. "To be or not to be” (Act 3, scene 1, page 3) Hamlet debates suicide. “Now might I do it pat, now he is praying; And now I'll do't. And so he goes to heaven; And so am I revenged. At first he does not know if the ghost is actually his father and he need to insure that. When he actually got the chance to kill claudius he couldn't do it because claudius was in prayer and did not want to send him to heaven. Also he is worried about what could happen to him in the after life for committing sin. So i believe that is why he is slow to act on avenging his father's death. Although Hamlet seemed to be one of the more exciting and fun to see more than all the other characters, his one fatal or tragic flaw about indecisiveness to avenge his father's death shows me that hamlet had a lot of underlying causes to his madness.
