The aim of this study was to identify factors causing lack of attendance at antenatal clinics in primiparas and to determine effects of lack of antenatal care on perinatal outcomes.
The methodology that was followed in carrying out the study is presented under four designs, namely: Technical design, operational, administrative and statistical design Technical design

Sample size calculation was done using (Epi-info™, CDC, USA.2008) program using 80% power and level of significance was set at 5% (P=0.05) taking in consideration the population size; adjusted number of pregnant primiparas attended the labor ward in the preceded year before the study and the effect of poor antenatal care on pregnancy outcome established from the previous studies. Accordingly Sample size was included 516 primiparas.
Inclusion criteria:
1- Women who agree to participate in the study
2- Primiparas.
Exclusion criteria:
Women who have any medical problem
Tools of the study:
An interview questionnaire was designed by investigator and was reviewed by supervisors to collect the following data:-
1-Personal data which included:
Name, age, residence, religion, educational level, husband's education.
2-Data related to medical history which included:
The history of diabetes, hypertension, renal disease, cardiac disease, hepatic disease, and any other diagnosed medical disease.
3-Data related to antenatal care attendance
-Time of first antenatal visit
-Number of antenatal visits
-Place of antenatal visit and reason of it
