Primdahl Personal Statement

Improved Essays
I’ve been an advocate for complementary and alternative medicine all my adult life, often questioning the conventional, often-toxic treatments doctors regularly and conveniently prescribe for different ailments, including cancers. I believe too many doctors lean heavily on the pharmaceutical industry, which has financial disincentive to promote alternative treatment options.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, I elected not to undergo doctor recommended ‘slash and burn’ surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Instead, I researched alternative therapies that included high-dose Vitamin C mixes.
Fortuitously, my research led me to Caren Primdahl and her (what? – descriptor needed) therapy, I firmly believe Caren’s method using her proprietary technology is truly miraculous! Caren’s method in tandem, with intravenous Vitamin A mixes and a regime of personal spiritual and emotional renewal, saved my life.

Positive life changes and a spiritual awakening are to my mind inextricably linked to my healing – and of course Caren’s intervention

There are many different approaches in developing a relationship with patients, one of which being holistic, patient-centered care. Holistic care is described as “all nursing practice that has healing the whole person as its goal” (American Holistic Nurses’ Association, 1998, Description of Holistic Nursing). A holistic approach allows the nurse to view the patient as a whole, as opposed to focusing in on one small aspect. By viewing the entire person, we are able to provide spiritual, medical, and any other type of care that may be necessary in aiding the recovery of our patients. “Holism involves studying and understanding the interrelationships of the bio-psycho-social-spiritual dimensions of the person, recognizing that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” (Dossey, 2010, p.14), which further emphasizes that by using a holistic nursing approach, we are able to take not only a patient’s physical well-being into consideration, but also the emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of our…

Although people have been using herbal treatments for thousands of years, there is a reason that modern medicine and technology was invented. The other things did not work. The treatment of illnesses through medication, doctors, and therapists work for basically all modern medical issues. I suppose that it feels nicer to take a natural substance than to take a pill that could have harsh side effects. I’ve realized throughout these critiques that many people seem disenfranchised with the insurance company and healthcare programs in the US and around the world.…

Personal spirituality is one aspect of a human being’s character and identity that is not only important, but also an aspect that plays a vital and essential role in helping people to better understand the world they live in. Madison Wagner believes strongly that spirituality is starkly different from religion, although, for some people, religion can be a guide to helping people to understand and discover their spirituality. As a future nurse and patient advocate, Madison knows that it is her responsibility and privilege to care for the needs of the whole person, which means not only helping her patients recover physically from any injury or illness they may have incurred, but also caring for the personal and spiritual needs of each individual…
