“‘You need to come to church with your family. I don’t care what you say,’ my mom told us every Sunday. In the Catholic Church, they never explained it to children. It was all about, you can sin and do whatever you want during the week, but then on Sundays you would come and repent. All we learned was the same things,” Jason said this matter-of-factly while sitting on the couch at his friend’s Tony house in the middle of the Colts vs. Jets game. He goes on to explain that, “I wore a shirt and jeans to church, it was nice that I didn’t need to dress up. I remember watching the clock wishing that the 45 minutes would go faster every Sunday. I remember asking myself about the Priests explanation of the Scriptures. How does that makes sense? I decided that when I could get a job I would work on Sundays so I didn’t have to go to church. I decided that my parents couldn’t force me anymore and I was done with going to church.” Jason looking thoughtful as he took a bite of his pizza. I would swear every other word, I don’t like swearing now, it takes the spirit away from me. I would drink every night, I can’t stand walking past a bar it makes me sad how they are wasting their money like that. I loved to smoke, walking past people that smoke I can’t breathe. It is amazing to me how much it has changed me, I am a completely different person. I came to want to go to church every week, I was always sick if I missed.” Jason smiled as he has seen how far he has

A good question, related largely to this one: What does a meeting of Catholics called “Prayer on the Mountain,” an article writer and blogger named Erik Reece, seventy-seven commercial fishing groups, the Coal River Valley community, seven hundred Alaskan hunting and angling groups, the National Council of Churches, two hundred chefs and restaurant owners, and lots of community members all have in common? Prayer in public schools is an extremely controversial subject ever since Engel v. Vitale that decided that no establishment of public education could instruct, guide, or encourage any religion. The controversy mainly lies between the question of Constitutionality regarding the rights of citizens to practice religion how they wish, or to do the opposite. Other aspects of the debate include the intrusion of the government in regulating any form of regulation in violation of these previously mentioned Constitutional rights.
