Pride And Prejudice Chapter Analysis

Throughout Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, there are some chapters that readers may feel lack information or any plot movement that pertains to the book in a direct way and would like to just pass through those chapters as quickly as possible because those particular chapters are thought of as filler chapters. If there is one thing a reader should take away from studying any Jane Austen piece is that she has a talent to formulate and place events in an appropriate order so that everything that happens throughout the novel fits perfectly together like a puzzle and that she has a rhyme and reason for the information she expresses throughout the book. A particular chapter that should be focused on is Chapter 10 in Volume One. Darcy are presented in a dialogue where the two are discussing Mr. Darcy’s letter writing capabilities, while Miss Bingley is revealing her in-depth knowledge of Mr. Darcy’s life. At first, we see that Mr. Darcy is attempting to ignore Miss Bingley’s when she claims that his younger sister will be excited to receive his letter. When he makes no reply, she continues to comment on how quickly he writes and how long they typically are, not leaving out the fact that he writes letters on several occasions for business and to his sister. Mr. Darcy responds practically saying that she is wrong with how quickly he writes, and saying that it is better for him to write opposed to her. Their relationship is similar to a close sibling relationship, seeing how easy it is for her to pester him while he is doing work and how he quickly dismisses her comments. It could almost be said that she is interested in him as more than an acquaintance, based off of her actions later on in the chapter when she discovers Mr. Darcy focusing solely on
