Darcy Pride And Prejudice Comparison Essay

The character of Fitzwilliam Darcy in the novel of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is portrayed somewhat similarly to how he is portrayed in the movie of Bride and Prejudice, just with a few differences worth noting. In both iterations, Darcy seems to be seen as someone very “high on his horse” and also seems to have very poor social skills when it comes to actually opening up himself to others like his friends and especially Elizabeth.Though, with that in mind, Darcy’s personality in the film is altered so that he does not seem as crude and imprudent as he does in the novel. More so to be seen as though he is the one who tries his hardest and dearest to captivate Lalita and convince others he is not what they may say about him. Darcy’s intentions in the film adaptation are portrayed as the best intentions for the given situation, dissimilar to how his intentions are displayed through the writings of Jane Austen. One last thing to jot down is that Darcy, just like everyone else, has values though what is odd between the two works is that Darcy values the very same things in different ways depending on the specific work.

Fitzwilliam Darcy himself is a complicated man, not as complicated as a man if you were to see him in the Bride and Prejudice film. In spite of the fact that Mr. Darcy is recognized as one of the most shrewd and overly-judgmental gentleman in the book, he is better represented in the picture as just that, a gentleman.
