I am writing an essay on how I would reduce the incidence of gun violence in the United states and around the world. I will emphasize on how this can do without taking away the legal rights of law abiding citizens to acquire and possess firearms. How this problem can be compromised will be discussed throughout this essay . Over the years, gun violence has been a global problem which has been steadily increasing in the united states. In the United States, there are 300 million people. Of those 300 million people 30,000 people lives will be taken from the barrel of a firearm every year. The second amendment was adopted in 1791. Around 1791, guns were used for the purpose to gather food and self-defense. Guns in 1791 were single-shot, not automatic, made by a gunsmith, and loaded through the muzzle. Also, guns in 1791 would not have or be the following: automatic, smokeless powder, load bullet from magazines, interchangeable parts, and large magazines.
It is a large section of different types of firearms that are made. There are seven different type of firearms, along different types of firing actions and ammunitions. The seven types of firearms are the following: handguns, revolvers, pistols, derringers, rifles, and shotguns. The different types of guns firing actions are the following: fully automatic, semi-automatic, machine gun, and submachine gun. There are only two types of gun ammunition which are caliber and gauge.
Most criminals prefer guns that are easily concealable, large in caliber, and well made. Handguns are the most common type of firearm used in crimes (rape, sexual assault, robbery, and aggravated assault.) Along with handguns being the most common type of firearms used in crimes, handguns are used in one-half of all murders. Handguns can easily hide and some have large magazines.
