In the modern era of technology and science the advancement has helped users to easily copy and share digital material mainly illegitimately. Digital rights management was made in order to fight digital copyright infringement. Nevertheless various number of issues among copyright owners and users have been brought up and the use of DRM has come into question. Advocates feel the need that it is necessary, while the opponents think that it applies on technological innovation and fair use. Copyrighted material are protected by the legislations and the case laws available in the Indian Laws, but it seems that infringement can never be stopped. As the Copyright Amendment Act, 2012 restricts the removal of DRM from all copyrighted media, there will always be users who will crack the DRM and share their tricks with the others. That is why prevention and control of digital piracy in all terms is the need of the hour. The countries that are developed have defended the threat of piracy by implementing technological protection measure. The whole purpose of applying digital locks would not be served if there is no as such legislation regulating its limits.
