In order to prevent or delay osteoporosis a person can have a healthy food diet. The consumption of vitamin D and calcium is very crucial as growing up because they are very important for the growth of bones. Most people are not aware of how much calcium or vitamin D they should be consuming. According to NIH MedlinePlus bases calcium intake by age. Women at age 51-70 should consume 1,200 mg of calcium per day and men should consume 1,000 mg per day. Furthermore individuals can prevent osteoporosis by limiting their carbonated beverages and alcohol consumption because it declines bone density. Weigh bearing is another way to delay or prevent osteoporosis. Walking, jogging, running, any out door activities can increase bone mass and prevent
