Identity theft has been a growing situation. It is something that continues to grow and having many people being affected by having their identity stolen. Technology makes it easier for individuals to steal someone's identity and use it to their own advantage. It is important for people to take the right precautions and keep information secure to prevent any identity theft from occurring.

Keeping Information Private

According to USA.gov, there are a number of ways to prevent identity theft. It is important to keep passwords private and not to share them with anyone or let anyone see you typing in passwords so they cannot login to your private information. As technology grows it makes it easier for people to steal banking information and spend your money. Hackers can see credit card numbers when not using a secure website when buying things online and use that to buy things on their own. Personally, I have had this experience and find out about it from checking my bank account and saw I had no money in my account and had to file a police report because it happened so close to home because the bank did not believe I did not spend that money myself. Speaking from my own experience, it is important to keep up with how much you are spending and see if it goes with your banking information.

Install Firewalls
Having an anti-virus system firewalls on computers is a way to prevent hackers from getting into your files and stealing information. Without firewalls it makes easy access for hackers to get into computer systems and cause issues with your computer. When using wifi it is important to choose a private network and to keep a password on your own wifi so you know it is secured from anyone else being able to use it. If your computer does not come with anti-virus systems or firewalls it’s important to get it to prevent your computer from crashing and to have your information secure from
