Men Vs Women In Sports Research Paper

All my life I have been an athlete playing all kinds of sports, whether it be for school or on my spare time. One thing I always noticed, which is not very unusual, is that men and women always have their respected teams, and never do they actually participate in the same teams. In every sport there are different categories where one involves a women’s team, and another involves a men’s team, and this is of course for obvious reasons. Men and women have different abilities, and capabilities, their requirements and the expectations from the audience are different from one another, but does this mean that men and women are completely incapable of playing of the same team? Is it possible that a woman playing on the men’s team, or vice versa, can prove to be advantageous, or is the way we have it now the only possible way that sports can be …show more content…

In this particular interview, Katie talks about always playing with boys when she was younger, and because of this, it allowed her to improve her skills as it provided her with the best competition. This is a perfect example that illustrated the advantages that women can have when playing sports with men. When doing something you love, you obviously wish to get better at it, so if you have a considerable amount of skill, playing with the opposite gender may prove to help you develop new skills.
This is unfortunately not always the case, and sometimes to opposite happens. We have to also keep in mind that men are still generally more athletic than women, and although it is very possible for a woman to out skill a man in a certain sport, most men will have the upper hand. On average, women will perform poorly in comparison to men, and because of this, they may feel discouraged, and may not enjoy the sport
