Preventing Distracted Driving

Distracted driving is a serious issue America faces today. Many states have come together to find a solution to this problem. However, the solution is being debated among many Americans. Some states have passed a law saying, it is illegal to drive while using a hand-held device. This law is the first step to prevent distracted driving. Driving is a responsibility that requires concentration and flexibility. When a person is on a practice drive, there is never a time the driver will have a cellphone on them. This is to ensure the driver is completely focus on the road and not on a phone screen. To enforce a law that prohibits anyone using a cellphone, will take away one less distraction for a driver. Secondly, most distracted driving leads to accidents. Car accidents have been the highest …show more content…
Although, there is a product many industries promote today, this product is called Bluetooth. Bluetooth is a device that connects all phone calls to the database of a car. Anytime a person receives a call, the bluetooth will go directly to speaker in the car. Instead of having to look down at the phone screen, bluetooth has made it safer and easier to call anybody while driving. Even though the law has good intentions, there is the other side of opinion. One opposition is, not everybody can afford a bluetooth. In todays' society, buying a new car automatically comes with bluetooth. However, there are people who buy or inherit older model cars. Depending on the year the car was made, bluetooth will not work because of the lack of technology of the cars' design. Some people do not have the amount of money required to get a new car or bluetooth. These are some people who would look negatively on the new law. Another opposition is emergencies that come up.
