The United States has been known for having some of the most prolific and influential leaders like Abraham Lincoln,James A. Garfield, and John F. Kennedy to name a few. They all had very impactful presidency's from Lincoln abolishing slavery, Garfield reasserting the superiority of the president over the senate, to Kennedy organizing the moon landing.But another thing that these three figures had the misfortune to share in common was that they were all shot during presidency, Presidential security would improve after the deaths of these three men, but the death of John F. Kennedy would dramatically ameliorate the presidential protection.These amendments to the presidential security isn't only helpful to the heads of states but also to all inhabitants …show more content…
Kennedy was shot during an open motorcade ride in Dallas,Texas. What most people don't know about this motorcade was the fact how poorly it was setup. He was planned to originally ride in the convertible with a bullet resistant bubble top, since they felt that Dallas was a risky place for Kennedy to be in since Dallas had a distaste for Kennedy.He would reject this idea to win over the populace of Dallas by making the ride more personal and showing off his wife. Also nine of the twenty-eight secret service men were sleep deprived and had been drinking during travel with the president. Before the assassination, presidential security was up to the president himself but that would be quickly adjusted to make security a unrefusable aid. The secret service would also be greatly refined. The presidential security had been considered somewhat of a gong show, Ronald Kessler a past member of the service brought up a story about Betty Ford who liked to joke that when she got sober, members of her Secret Service retinue had to accompany her to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. They would later ban excessive drinking while being part of the service and dramatically increase the members to over one hundred then the group of one hundred would gradually grow into the three thousand members that currently protect past presidents and the current president to help limit sleep deprivation being a
