I will also explain the different topics that they spoke on through the examples of ethos, pathos, and logos. Then I will explain the difference between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. A few nights ago I looked at the presidential debate to see which one of our future leaders would be best for this country. As I looked at the presidential debate I noticed that Hilary was allowed to speak first. I feel like they made her speak first because they knew she was not going to start of the debate with and insult toward someone unlike Trump. Once Clinton spoke you could tell that she had he debate prepared …show more content…
She would make little statements such as “trumped – up trickle – down.” I can see why she would make jokes such as those. Mostly because every time when Trump would say something he would always talk about something that’s bad in this country. I guess that’s why Hilary would always come back with a small joke here and there to relive the audience of their pity or sadness for a few seconds. Also when she did things such as that I feel like it caused the crowed to draw their attention to her more that Trump. I feel like when Trump tried to do small jokes it didn’t really work out for him. When it comes to pathos you’re trying to evoke pity or sadness from someone. I mostly look at saying small jokes the

However, through this whole entire debate I noticed that he really didn’t even try to say not one joke at all. The only thing that I heard him talk about was Hilary Clinton emails and that one was not funny. Throughout the whole time he was up their I feel like instead of him evoking sadness and pity from the crowd he just made them feel nervous and on

Among these emotions is sincerity and concern, Clinton makes eye contact with the women, while doing her best to answer the question honestly and effectively. Pathos is utilized in an entirely different light, while Trump is speaking. When he was asked to answer the same question as Hillary, he looked at the camera rather than the women, so that he could talk to the whole of America and not just one person. The other way that pathos is used, is the tensions that are constantly among these two candidates. They are consistently tense and in some cases it is hard for them to move on to the next question, because they are so into their argument.…

The presidential election is what takes up a majority of the news right now. What is hitting headlines even more at the moment is the first presidential debate. I read the editorial, “Clinton Puts Trump on Defense at First Debate”, which discusses the ins and outs of the debate. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton went head to head on Monday, September 26th. The author addresses the highlights of the first presidential debate which included taxes, including Donald Trump’s own taxes, the war in Iraq, Trump’s remarks toward women, how to handle police brutality, race relations, and others.…

At the time this artifact was produced, Trump was still running for office against Hilary Clinton and was not yet elected for president. On June 22, 2016, Donald Trump decided to do an “Anti-Hilary” speech. This speech was to conclude that Hilary Clinton cannot be the next president of The United States simply because she was not fit. His goal is to persuade the target audience to not vote for Hilary.…

He stood there on the stage, facing attacks from all sides, as the front-runner in New Hampshire avoided nearly all critiques. This was not supposed to happen—just days earlier, Sen. Marco Rubio had succeeded in spinning his third-place finish in Iowa as a win, but he now began to sweat as all of his weaknesses were exploited by his opponents. In a particularly painful exchange, Rubio repeated (almost) the same line (“This notion that Barack Obama doesn't know what he's doing is just not true. He knows exactly what he's doing.”) four times in just a couple of minutes.…

The Vice Presidential debate that occurred on October 4th 2016 was important to people across the united states. It is clear that many citizens are undecided on who to vote for, the point of this debate was to give clarity to voters and to reassure the American people of their views. I was hoping this debate would be better than the presidential debate however it seemed to be the same; Tim Kaine interrupting and Mike Pence constantly being on the defense. Despite the interruptions both candidates made a few good points that are essential to consider when making a decision. Both sides made strong arguments.…

The second presidential debate was at the Washington University in St. Louis. The moderators for the debate were CNN’s Anderson Cooper and ABC’s Martha Raddatz. The debate was divided into six 15 minute segments, with topics about immigration, national security, health care and many more. In the beginning of the debate a member from the audience asked each candidate if “they feel that they are modeling appropriate and positive behavior for today’s youth, knowing that educators assign viewing the presidential debates as student’s homework?” Each candidate completely ignored the question and went off topic.…

This election year many Americans are debating weather Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton should be the next president. I say that neither should be the next president of our great country. In today’s world there are never only two solutions to any issue. With a two party system over time the opposing parties stop trying to find the best solution, instead the parties prioritise their policies to be the opposite of the other party.…

In the eulogy for the honorable reverend Clementa Pinckney, President Obama shows us the good use of the rhetorical analysis. In this analysis of the speech I will be discussing the use of ethos, pathos, logos. Obama starts the speech showing us that there is an emotional connection between him and his audience, this creates pathos. Obama adds “scripture tells us,” this part makes him credible for the audience because he is talking to people in a church and he brought a citation from the bible. Then in the next paragraph he starts saying about how good of a person Clem was and this created an increase in the affection of the people to the reverend.…

Does comedy help promote social change? Ramon Lopez, Iain Ellis and the documentary Tickling Giants demonstrate how comedy has had some social change but has not had a positive impact on society nor promoted great social change. Ellis discusses about how The Talk Show brought about a change in society but not a positive change in which the comedian expected since the nation returned to where they started or even worse. While Lopez discuss how the comedian Jon Stewart does not promote positive social change but rather degrading change in society. I agree that comedy can have a social effect but disagree that comedians can bring about a positive change.…
