President Truman’s decision in dropping the atomic bombs was unjustified for several reasons. The atom bombs killed more than 200,000 people from the blast, fire and radiation. The use of the bombs was also prohibited by the government and was only supposed to be used for defensive purposes in case. The fight over Iwo Jima and Okinawa was devastating and both Japan and The United States lost lots of soldiers. After the US took control of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, they found that the Japanese would not give up and would fight for every inch of land they owned. The Japanese followed a code called Bushido which stated that they would fight until they died. Truman dropped two atom bombs named Little Boy and Fat Man over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The
