Before President Obama was elected the U.S had a notoriously bad president, George W. Bush. President Bush left Obama with a ton of problems. High unemployment rate, low amount of jobs, and a completely destroyed of the American middle-class. According to aattp(Americans against the tea party).org 's article, The Top 20 Ways President George W. Bush Destroyed America,”Median household incomes declined by 4.2%, social economic inequality reached epidemic proportions, and the middle-class took on more debt than at any time since the Great Depression. His policies led to 8 million Americans falling below the poverty line, 3.5 million of those being children.” Through these facts, anyone can see that President Obama would have his hands full coming into office and that 's just the statistical portion of his problems. Another issue that President Obama had that was left from the Bush era was the American citizen 's distrust of the government. President bush made a lot of very bad decisions, again referring to aattp.org 's article, The Top 20 Ways President George W. Bush Destroyed America, President Bush, pulling us out of the Kyoto protocol, creating false narrative that Iraq was an ally of Afghanistan, ignoring the United Nations and launched an illegal preemptive war. All of these things led to the American citizens to be very observant to governmental decisions and also to judge President Obama to a much higher standard considering the fact that he would have to be twice the President that Bush was to get the U.S out of the hole it found itself

Some people say Herbert Hoover was in the wrong place at the wrong time because if the depression had happened at a different time his ideas might have been great. But unfortunately people in the past found Hoover as a uncaring person and against the American people because he wasn't helping them. For example, Herbert Hoover said that people should succeed on their own effort, and that they should not rely on the government to help them out. Which I find unlikely for a president to say because he is supposed to be helping out the people. Herbert tried to have an impact…

It wasn't long ago that African- Americans couldn’t ride the bus, go to school, or go to the same library as a white person. As the first black president, I think Obama does send a strong signal to unite various races in the U.S., due to our history of divisiveness among races. Although many people would criticize the nation’s choice of president, the majority favors a new look of a man to lead our country. For that reason, what it has meant to me to have President Barack Obama as the first African-American president leading our country is that minority races can become successful and it has a dual meaning: social and political.…
