Overall Speech 101 was a great class for me, i was able to improve my ability to speak in front of a class and gain what it takes to be a great speaker. One thing that really helped me was looking back at my speech videos. At first i was really shy and thought that looking at myself speak would be embracing but it really helped me out. After every speech i would look back at my film and see the areas i can improve on. Yes indeed looking at my speech’s really helped me out especially on my final persuasive speech, at first i lacked confidence but as the speeches went on and i looked back i noticed the big difference in confidence. After looking at all my speeches i expected to see more confidence and as you see i was able to achieve that,

Now that i talked about the filming of my speech let me tell you about the compare and contrast of the time i gave for my presentations to what i saw on film. No i had no idea that i would of been so spot on the times of my speeches. The first speeches i was way off but the Informative and Persuasive i was able to be spot on. I was able to feel if i my speech was to long or to short and that helped me out a lot. I felt a lot better looking at my speeches and see how fast time flys

Up during my speech specificly the last one, i felt super nervous, but looking back i appeared confident and great body gestures. The one thing that doesn 't surprise me is that in all my speeches i managed to have a great tone of voice and enthusiasm. Personally my strongest performance had to be the persuasive speech, after looking at it i noticed i looked the most confident, my content, my structure, and my transitions were spot on. My weekest performance however was my first speech, i looked so nervous, i had very little content, i was not into the speech, no transitions, and like i said i learned a lot from this

I have never had trouble talking in front of large groups or presenting, in fact speeches are always projects I look forward to in class. However, I still believe I could work on being more effective when delivering my speach. The two main problems I have seen wish my speaking is first, I always start talking too fast which makes it hard for the audience to understand me. Second, in school sometimes we are forced to give a presentation about a topic we are not always personally enthusiastic about. I need to improve my level of enthusiasm even when I am not interested in the topic because it effects the ability for me to convey my points to my…

During this summer session of ENGL101A, I have learned multiple ways to express myself through my writing. In fact, before signing up for this class, I did not know the proper way to compose an academic essay for a particular audience, and how to properly cite my sources. Nevertheless, after the short summer session, I am able to define my purpose and audience, analyze critically any piece of information, and write with proper citations and fewer grammatical errors with confidence. Through the short time of 5 weeks, I learned how to focus on my audience as well as how to define the purpose of my papers as academically as possible.…

Good public speaking skills are rare, it takes a lot of practice and experience to express yourself fluently in front of a crowd. To me, a great public speaker is one who can put their words together in the simplest way possible, so that every spectator can understand the message. Also engaging with the audience in order to keep their attention. The last good speech I heard was by Congressmen John Lewis back in October here on campus, he had great stories, was very informative and didn’t hesitate to engage the audience. I would be bothered if a political candidate used profanity in the middle of a speech because it is extremely unprofessional, I would not want that person to represent me or my community.…

During my first speech, I was incredibly nervous. I can remember feeling short of breath and my hands shaking. In my preparation, I practiced giving my whole speech through. The morning of, I woke up at 7:30 to continue to practice my speech and I felt very confident when the time came. The informative speech was one that I actually enjoyed. I was able to inform the class about something I was passionate about, and I learned some stuff that I didn't previously know about. To prepare I made an outline and a few handy notecards. I didn't practice it at all. I wanted to see how a speech would go with no practice.…

The first time I noticed this is at 0:09 in my speech. I think that if I were to stand up and be confident while delivering my speech it would make my performance a lot better. Last but not least I noticed my enthusiasm level almost seemed sarcastic in the very beginning of my speech. At 0:03 in my speech when I was stating my purpose statement, my tone in voice was strange and not exactly as enthusiastic as I could have been. I feel that if I practiced my speech a little more than I actually did, my delivery process would have been much…

Final Persuasive Speech Reflection Believe me when I say that my progress from then to now has come a long way. Initially after giving the persuasive speech, I felt that there has been little process in all of this time that I had spent trying to learn to communicate more effectively. Worst of all perhaps, I felt powerless to do anything to change this. This was my most practiced speech and it did not feel that way. Even the thought of having to go back and essentially relive those 7 minutes was not something I was particularly excited about.…

However, I personally felt nervous as I was talking. This was reinforced by feedback I received which said “you seemed slightly nervous at first but then as confidence grew the teaching became increasingly better.” I felt this was due to a lack of preparation and could have easily been resolved by practice and repetition. Also, next time I will prepare some notes to prompt me and to ensure I do not forget to mention any important details the students may…

I sometimes get nervous about what people are thinking about my speech when I am giving it but if I don’t judge people from the audience then I will have the mindset when I am on stage that people from the audience are not judging me. Lastly, I think that I will be able to get up in front of people and give a speech without getting extremely nervous. I haven’t had much experience with speaking in front of big groups but hopefully by the end of this semester I will be very good at it without having any nervous feelings if someone asked me to give a public…
