Improved Essays
A single year may not seem like a long time, or that much can change in that short amount of time, but students can change drastically in just a year. I have seen a lot of growth in myself throughout the year, and am pleased with how I have grown. At the beginning of the year, I was quite shy and did not like speaking in front of groups. This impacted my presentation skills as I was unable to speak clearly and with good emotion. Additionally, I have seen myself become better at working with groups for projects. Being a good collaborator is important to me as it is a critical skill to have in the workplace. I have grown as a collaborator through the many change challenges in chemistry. These challenges helped me with collaboration by having me work in groups, and by working with people I don’t normally work with. The first challenge that helped me was working in study groups, and I chose to make my group with people who I was not very close to. This group helped me collaborate with peers in a helpful way, that being studying information for the class, and helping other students who didn’t understand it as well. The study groups were a fun way to work with others, and also very helpful for getting used to working with others. The second change challenge that helped my growth as a collaborator was working with a peer who is not already my friend. For this challenge we were assigned partners for a lab in chemistry, and I was assigned someone who I had never talked to before. We were able to work together, and finish the lab with no hindrances. From this challenge I learned how I am able to work with people who I am not close to, and that is also very important in the workplace. The change challenges in chemistry helped me grow as a collaborator through having me work in groups and work with people who I am not very close to; these collaboration skills that I have built are important to me as they are necessary for

I could understand and learn better in the other classrooms except from the chemistry classroom because the teachers had greater communicating skills than the first. I could concentrate more and memorize and understand what I was doing. The teacher could ask the students to prepare an essay on their formative years. This would make the students to focus on an actual experience. I was more willing to attend classes because of the joy in learning in a classroom that is more…

The students did do a good job with listening to directions and following rules, but I think part of the reason for this was that they had many movement breaks other ways to remain focused. Some topics in science can be very abstract for students, so finding a way to make the content relatable for the students is very important. The idea of living and non-living is something that the students are already familiar with. They encounter living and non-living things in their daily lives, which makes teaching the students this content a bit easier. The students need to develop another way to look at living and non-living, but forming definitions and creating criteria for determining which is…
