More than Just Sitting Business presentations occur on a daily basis in a variety of settings. With the use of visual aids, the presenter attempts to get their point across in a way that will connect with the audience and remain front of mind even as they leave the presentation. However, using presentation tools such as Power Point in the most effective manner possible requires fore thought, planning, and proper informational context. The following is a brief synopsis of the dos and don’ts of Power Point presentation as a multimedia tool.

As reported by Duke University Center for Instructional Technology (n.d.), this is described as “slideument” where the document is overrun by bulleted information and provides very little aid to the actual presentation. Including paragraphs, a barage of words, and long sentences distracts the audience from the information being presented. This overdocumentation makes it harder for the audience to digest the information because they are bombarded with over stimulation and material overload. Another bad habit is allowing the mutlimedia materials to control the pace, appearance, and interaction of the presentation. It maintains a more direct and inflexible structure to the presentation which prevents the audience from interacting with the presenter and the information (Duke University Center for Instructional Technology, n.d.). According to Dusti Howell (2008), there are four ways to make sure that a PowerPoint presentation is effective:
1. Use Keyboard Keys to Navigate in a Presentation: Moving forward and backward within the presentations can be achieved through keyboard control. This allows the presenter to limit the control of the presentation over the speech.
2. Pause to reflect: presenters must have the ability to regulate the pace of the presentation in order to allow for audience interaction among themselves and with the presenter.
3. Add excitement: In order to engage the audience there must be some level of interaction. This could include role playing, experience sharing, and bouncing ideas off of one another.
4. Execute Smooth Entrances and Exit: Create a slide that represents your entrance and you conclusion. Use the same slide and knock it out of the park at the beginning and the
