Present Day Feminism: The Tublr Site

The everyday feminism resonated with me as it encourages the society to move in a positive direction by volunteering, showing up in the marches, calling the local state representatives to take action, and getting people’s voices heard. Joining with the community and not giving up hope for a just and respectful world for all is a move in the right direction. It encourages people to dismantle the wrong and do better for the society by accommodating everyone.
The Tumblr site is very interesting in the way it depicts feminism and every person is entitled to their view on what is feminism. Although these anti-feminists have reasons behind their arguments, they are basing their rejection on one negative image of feminism. In present day feminism,

The equal pay day is significant as we continue to fight for equal gender pay which is a global issue. The men continue to earn more than women with the same education level and background. People should be recognized based on their merit and every person should be given an equal opportunity and should never be denied based on their gender. The global racial disparity in the gender wage gap is wide and can close if the community recognizes people based on their merit.
I am respectful of other peoples’ opinions, but it is surprising and frightening when a person does not understand feminism and bases their views on negative definition. The anti-feminist do not understand that feminism brought about the present day changes by placing women in positions of power, independence, and granting them the power to take charge of their health care.
When I was growing up there were stereotypes in the society and traditionally, the male are the provider and holds the power. Due to lack of access to education, it is more difficult to break down gender roles and these leaves those women who are unable to receive education to find a husband who can provide. In modern day, the gender roles are breaking down and women are assuming more roles in the society even providing for their

Feminism and women’s liberation’s movement have helped women gain equality such as the right to vote. I should embrace and respect other peoples’ ideologies without making assumptions about people based on their beliefs. Furthermore, realizing and recognizing that I need to set my personal assumptions aside and become more aware and cognizant of other ideologies that are different from my own. As a community, acknowledging, becoming more culturally sensitive and understanding that people who interact with us have values, practices, and beliefs that differ from my own will lead to respect for other people without

The year is 2014 and it is transparent that women still do not have the same privileges that men do in our society and that women are still fighting for equal rights. However, due to the successes of the second wave feminists, we as women are better off than where we could be in society. When the second wave feminist movement began in the late 1960s, women were fed up. Women wanted to be taken seriously and they wanted to fight back against a society that allowed for them to be sexually harassed at work, domestic violence to be accepted as a norm, and their bodies to be continuously objectified by the media. Women wanted liberation of their bodies and reproductive health, they wanted birth control so that they could say how and when they were…

“Like all behavior, discrimination is connected to how we think and feel about people,” while prejudice plays a role in both fueling discriminatory behavior and providing roles in order to justify those ideas or feelings (Johnson 47). There are many ways that people feel discrimination, such as in the play, Children’s Hour. Throughout this play, Karen and Martha were assumed to be homosexual by a young girl named Mary, and because they were thought to be lesbians, other people such as the parents to the young children began to assume that Karen and Martha were unfit to run the school or even teach their young girls (Hellman). This was a substantial form discrimination towards both Karen and Martha, and at the time, completely destroyed their…

Imagine living in a world where you didn’t hear about sexism or racism in the news or in the streets every day. Imagine living in a world where men and women of all races and classes are seen as equal. This is the goal of most feminist, to end all oppression. This goal seems almost impossible, but if you think about the views of the world now compared to one hundred and fifty years ago we have come a long way, we are just not quite there yet. Since the start of evolution, it is evident that women are seen subordinate to men. Females have been given the impression that they are the nurturers, while males are the provider which gives them power. In history males have always been the dominant ones, who have jobs that are considered to be "manly" while the women have jobs that are "better-suited" for their gender. Overtime it was necessary for groups of women to form and fight for equal rights, known as Feminism. Within recent year 's women, eventually, have gained equality to some degree, but of course will always encompass some sort of social stigma.…

Thus, for feminists to be anti-male, they technically wouldn't even be feminists. We don't believe we're better than men or that we deserve more rights than men. We want to be treated the same way. Being in the third wave of feminism, women have already gained basic rights through the movement of the first and second waves. However, we are still fighting for things like diminishing the gender pay gap.…

The article I chose to analyze is called “You Don’t Hate Feminism. You Just Don’t Understand It,” and it is about how different people have reacted to feminism. It starts off by introducing a group called Women Against Feminism. Basically, this is a group of women who are using social media (such as Facebook and Tumblr) to showcase other women and the reasons why they 're against feminism. You can go onto their Facebook page and see pictures of women holding up signs explaining why they don 't need feminism and most of the reasons are just embarrassing.…

This is especially true for women are beginning to be a true power in this world, with women becoming CEO’S of companies, and running for major offices. People need to realize that times are changing in the twenty-first century for women and today feminism is required to be successful in job fields like politics where women are taking a stand and becoming more assertive, in the home where single mothers who work are still producing children who help society, and in the workplace, where women still need to make a stand to make the same pay and have gender equality.…
