Almost 3 out of 4 prescription overdoses are caused by painkillers. It is obvious that the younger you are, the more naïve you tend to be. I had to learn at a young age that not everything in the world is rainbows and butterflies. I watched a family member struggle with addiction, to the point where it was no longer just affecting him, but the whole family. When I was young I loved traveling to see family, even it meant driving 12 hours north or south to see them. They were welcoming and always knew how to put a smile on anyone’s face. My uncle was one of my favorite people to see. I knew I would hear the cheesy nickname, and it would make me grin ear to ear even if I was extremely grumpy form being in the car. He had left the earth approximately 15 minutes after he closed himself in the car. When I received the phone call that informed me of what had happened I was confused and felt as if it wasn’t real. SO many questions went through my mind. All of the questions I had were answered after my dad handed me the note to read. I was in complete shock that family near him would rather push him out than try to help him. After I read the note my point of view on almost everything had changed. I had come to realize that not everyone is happy and that bad stuff really does happen in the world.
The day I read the note was the day that changed me forever. I had someone close to me taken because no one was willing to reach out and help him. There are tons of people that resort to suicide because the pain is too hard, or they feel like they have no one. I will never think of the world as a place that is evil-free because something bad happens to somebody, somewhere every
