Well the reason for that is they need higher drug prices in order for them to have enough money for research. In some hospitals “ we often must pay deep money for medical research”. They make us pay so much more to help them find the research they need. They deduct us more for research to save others lives. Which you could look at that being a win win situation you get the drug which makes you feel better, and the money you spend on getting that drug can benefit another person because of the research they now can do. They way I look at it is if we didn 't we spend so much money on advertising on drugs then maybe we would be able to lessen the cost of drugs. We used last year 650 million dollars on drugs. Another source even said that prescription drugs are going to be raised 13.6%. The reason is because they lack “ true universal health plan” so because of that they think they can do whatever they want with the money. They aren 't playing with there money smart, and not seeing that advertising drugs if stopped can leave us with more money for much more beneficial things. Last year we spent “ $3.1 billion on advertising prescription drugs directly to consumers in 2012”. So why is it that we are spending more on advertising on drugs then the actually drugs itself? In both situations you do retain some thing that could potentially kill you or give your body some risks, but people feel they still have the right to know about it. People feel if were to ban prescription drugs that it would be the violation of our First Amendment. Our first amendment is Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press. Basically you are allowed to say what you want and nobody can saw anything about it. By banning the drugs we aren 't allowing our voice to be heard for others to be aware. By not advertising drugs people feel it 's unfair “ You make new products. Why can 't you tell people about it?).This was said by Kaufman Seth who is the head chief of the American Advertising Federation in which he feels that we should be able to show off what new drugs we are selling to our
