I would be an asset in the program because I love interacting with people and learning new ways to improve their lives. I quickly discovered my passion for children and this field through the past two years of work experience at the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home (LBCH). I am fortunate enough to be the recreation leader, lifeguard, and math tutor of a diverse group of kids with heart-wrenching upbringings, circumstances, and for some, communication setbacks. My inner longing to provide more assistance to them communication-wise grows daily. The knowledge I am obtaining at ULM, the child-interaction skills I am gaining through the LBCH, and the God-given love and compassion for people all contribute and work simultaneously towards thriving…
Currently I work for a program that servces preschool age children, named The Children’s Collective, for almost three years now. Prior to being employed by this company I worked with USC Preschool Program which allowed me to work closely with families that had children with special diets and behavioral plans that needed to be administered and follow on a day to day basis. As well as an advocate for children with Autism, working closely with Autism Speaks to raise money to spread awareness in the community that allows children on the spectrum to be accepted and understood.…

1) Describe those factors which influenced your decision to pursue a career in teaching. There were so many influential teachers that have helped shape me throughout the many years of schooling. They have been there for me when I needed to talk, when I needed encouragement, when I needed someone to just listen, and when I needed a friend. I want to be that influential teacher for many students to come in the future. I will be a positive impact on students that they will never forget.…
Children are like sponges, they learn something new every day. They imitate and learn the things that adults and other peers around them do. This is the reason why preschools are part of the social construction of gender in our society. In Martin’s reading (2014), he stated that gendering of children’s bodies is part of the “hidden curriculum” of schools. Schools socialize children to be the way society want them to behave; boys are tough and girls are fragile.…
Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…
Personal Statement “Children are the key to a nation’s future and its best hope.” said one of my high school teachers. As I look back today and think of these words, it seems a reality. And, yes, a pediatrician truly holds the key to safeguard this “hope” by doing early intervention, prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases. My association with pediatrics is from my childhood days.…
The Early Education Center For my observation, I visited The Early Education Center, Seagull School. The preschool classroom that I visited consisted of three teachers and thirty children, ages three and four years old. The type of program at The Early Education Center is what I call a “traditional” preschool.…
This is the time in which I have the least memories of. Having the brain of a five-year-old in 2001, I vaguely recall only the faintest of some memories. My perspective; deeply obscured and quite simple. In 2001, I undoubtedly had very few worries in the world, that was until I had been introduced to the American Education system of K-12. Starting preschool was the biggest challenge that I can look back on.…
The reason I wrote this comic was because of my experience of working over the summer with young children. There were several events that pushed me toward having this experience. Through working with young children where I was a counselor at a summer camp I learned the how much people evolve since childhood. While watching the young children I got to see some events that paralleled many of the experiences that I had when I was a child. The first experience that I had that reminded me of my childhood was when I was at the park…

1. Describe your child. My child will be a girl entering 7th/8th grade. This letter will be in supplement to what she has already learned about sex and intimacy from previous conversations between the two of us, what she has learned in school, and conversations with her, her father and I. Hopefully this letter will open a dialogue she will feel comfortable continuing as she starts having “grow up” dating relationships.…
The Interview Interviewing my ninety year old father, Joseph Denis, had me come to the realization that our childhood and teenage years had many similarities, yet had many more differences. Born in 1926 , Joseph was raised in a different era than myself, as I was born in 1961. Joe had six brothers and two sisters, while I had three brothers and three sisters. Although the technology had advanced and the basic lifestyles had changed over the years, family time was important to each of our families as we were growing up. This paper will compare the similarities and contrasts of our upbringings and lifestyles.…
