Physical development: In this observation a little girl was scribbling rabidly on a doodle board. She also was picking up and placing the different shaped stamps back into the correct spot located on the doodle board. She portrayed physical development by using her fine motor skills to hold and manoeuver the small objects, such as the pen and stamps. John Dewey believes that children learn by doing and are constantly progressing. The little girl is at the correct pace of development, because she is gaining experience as she scribbles. According to John Comenius, hands on actives help children learn their native language. The observation displayed both boys using their native language, as they talked about the different colour blocks they chose. The preschoolers are at the normal stage of development because they were saying the correct colours associated with the blocks. To help the preschoolers advance their language development the children can participate in an activity that causes them to choose from a variety of blocks and use descriptive vocabulary to describe the characteristics such as; colour, shape, size, etc.
Creative development: Creative development was represented when the boys explored through the container choosing which colour block to place on their string. Maria Montessori’s Model explains how children learn on their own speed and that teachers are there to help assist the child. Therefore, the boy automatically at the correct stage of development because he is developing at his own pace.
