Christmas was arriving much quicker than anticipated and everyone in my family was rushing in order to prepare the house for the annual festivities. Each individual was assigned a certain task to handle, and luckily for me I was designated to finish decorating the house. I was ecstatic, practically doing backflips across a corn field happy. I loved the idea of being creative and getting to watch all of my family’s faces when they saw all the hard work I did. I had brought out all the bins, which were overflowing with Christmas ornaments, decorations, and more Santa faces than I could count on both hands. I was completely ready for what laid ahead of me. I had even went as far as sketching out my plan and how exactly I was going to decorate …show more content…
I kept giving myself little cheers of encouragement throughout the entire process because my idea was turning out perfectly. If my life was a movie, this is when the thriller music would have been cued. I turned away from the tree and took about three steps over to where I had placed a water bottle, when I felt my leg yank on an object. Not knowing what I was consequently about to carry out, I jerked my leg harder. If there was a definition for immediate regret; this would, without a doubt, be a perfect example. As I had flicked my leg hard, the Christmas tree came tumbling down, lights and all. The tree had landed, of course, right on top of the Nativity scene and had scattered all the figures around along with breaking a couple of them. While the tree had fallen, the stand also came down with the evergreen and all of the water had spilled out as well. There were pine needles scattered all across the floor along with an enormous water mark in the carpet. At first, I did not even bother turning around because I knew that if I did, I would most likely bawl. I bit my lip hard, nervous in anticipation, as I gradually turned around. For a second there was nothing but silence, but shortly after that I let out a scream so loud that I am almost positive
