Preparing for Power

Attending Sophia University is a path to my future goal. As I dream to become an entrepreneur, I choose to study at Sophia University, where I believe it to be an elite school. Sophia University is one of the well-known schools in entire Japan and I know many high school students hope to get into my university. Elite schools are providing sophisticated education and leading students to better jobs and better future. Not only the results tells that many students are offered good jobs but also the diploma of Sophia University is highly evaluated because graduates build trust from achieving honor in many ways attracts people. Compare to high school education, university is more liberal and self-responsible. Deciding what classes to take and how many credits to take is up to individuals as long as they are satisfying the school requirement. Unlike an example of American total institution daily schedule, Sophia University students have control over their daily life. Many students are engaging in part-time job, club activities and volunteers that they may spend more time on extracurricular activities than school activities. In my case, the older I get, the less time I spent for school activities. Therefore, many students are not so much influenced by cultural capital transmitted by courses and classes at university. Then how cultural capital is transmitted to me and all other students at Sophia University? I believe that cultural capital is already transmitted in one’s early stage of life. I conducted a survey objecting 30 seniors at Sophia University and all but one consider university education valuable and inevitable to be successful in their future. As I went to a private school, I was taught to go to University and get further education for my future career. When thinking about future and deciding which universities to apply and attend is the first stage of cultural capital circulation occurs. My sense of value has been built and brushed up through my life before entering to university. I have seen many
