I also met her in college, and we became close friends. She is a very entertaining person, who can keep people captivated for hours with her anecdotes. She also enjoys journaling, and she could keep a detailed account of our six weeks in the shelter. It could be like Anne Frank’s diary, and we could all become famous! Nevertheless, I could retell the story anyways without needing her. While she would be an interesting and amusing person for the bunch, I just don’t think she brings anything vital to the table. I’m counting her out in my list of people to join in the shelter.
Jacob is a big, strong, husky wrestler. He could easily fight back or be a protective person if something were to happen. While he is huge and strong, he is also aggressive. He already started a fistfight with Freddie before dinner. With the two of them in the bomb shelter, some problems could arise. However, I would rather have a protective and strong bodyguard over someone who is weak and sensitive. He will be able to protect against any threat that comes our way. She designates certain sleeping corners, a place to use the bathroom, a place to eat, and an area to gather. We all mindlessly follow her rules; no one is opposed to her. She gathers the food and starts to divide it up to ration it. Ixchel wanders around the small bomb shelter and finds a bookcase with old survival books and begins to read them. Freddie and Jacob are tense at first, due to the altercation earlier, but eventually warm up into a friendly conversation. Everyone seems to ease in so comfortably, it’s like an alien invasion isn’t even happening. I wander to a box in the corner, and pull out a dusty blanket. I lay it down on the cold cement floor, and fall fast
