Discuss the subjects in which you excel or have excelled. To what factors do you attribute your success?

My favorite subjects are mathematics and English. Both of these subjects, I feel, give me a chance to explore. From English, I learn more about the human psyche and society at large. The world is so complicated that simply dwelling in it is not enough. Stepping away – and into a book– allows me to focus on a single aspect of the world. I think I do well in English because I ask many questions that push the boundaries of what people are willing to admit–especially questions that evaluate our society’s dynamic. I especially love the linguistic aspect; the possibility of the meaning of a work of literature may be hinged on a single word.

Prep for Prep has motivated me to dream the unfathomable, ponder the unthinkable and even to do unbelievable. For this reason, the Prep for Prep program is perhaps the most important experience of my life to date. Once chosen for the program — 3,500 students vie annually for the 200 slots — the youth undergo 14 months of academic preparation and then apply to private schools renowned for their high scholastic standards. For many self- proclaimed geniuses, Prep for Prep was something like a heaven, a place where one could finally shed the façade of being another public school student. At Prep, I was really allowed to celebrate my potential and grow my talents as well as my …show more content…
What is brilliance, if not utilized for the benefit of everyone? It would have been quite difficult to commence, if I had no true goal. This opportunity of being accepted into Prep for Prep did not make me smarter than any other child in my public school–I was only lucky. I had to use this amazing opportunity to give future children, regardless of his or her socioeconomic standing, the same opportunities that I have been given as a result of Prep for Prep program. Prep was in many ways just the beginning of my interest in education and all that it has to offer. Knowing that I was able to successfully complete the Prep for Prep program has given me confidence to capitalize on tremendous academic opportunities. I am no longer apologetic for my interest in academics. I look forward to challenging myself and using these opportunities to provide for those without. Prep instilled a love of hope in me, an appreciation in the tales of the unfortunate. This is the sort of hope that I would like to provide to other

Good grades began to be associated with my age and thus I gained the nickname, “Baby Genius.” Even my close friends admitted to sometimes resenting the age difference between us. People would focus more on the fact that I was so young rather than the fact that I worked hard to get to the place I was. In fact, people’s assumption that I didn’t have to try for my grades and that I was just ‘born smart’ fueled my academic drive even more. I challenged myself to do my best in everything I did as a testimony to the fact that age didn’t affect the quality of work I was capable of.…

Having a decent education is one of the things that I, and many other, deem important. From the very beginning, many people are taught that having a higher form of education is important, and many also believe that AP classes are a key to doing well in college.
