Bagcioglu, E., Altunoluk, B., Bez, Y., Soylemez, H., Asik, A., & Emul, M. (2012) note that premature ejaculation (PD) and erectile dysfunction (ED) have been related to anxiety. Bagcioglu et al. hypothesized patients with premature ejaculation (PE) or erectile dysfunction (ED) would develop and endorse a distorted metacognitive function causing PE or ED. It was also hypothesized that patients may ejaculate faster or have impaired erection due to preoccupation with thoughts about controlling their orgasms. Bagcioglu et al. (2012) aimed to investigate the metacognitive characteristics of patients with PE and ED and to compare them with healthy controls.

Results
A significance in depression and anxiety were found to be higher in PE patients than patients with HC (p < .001) and patients with ED were significantly higher than PE patients (p < .001); the total MCQ-30 score was significantly higher in patients with sexual problems than in healthy controls (p = .003, for PE vs. controls; p = .025 for ED vs. controls).
The positive belief scores were significantly higher in patients than healthy controls (p = .003 for PE vs. controls; and for ED vs. controls p = .003; the negative beliefs score was significantly higher in patients with PE and ED than healthy controls (p = .032 and p = .007, respectively); and the cognitive selfconsciousness score was significantly higher in patients with PE than patients with ED (p = .033) and healthy controls (p= .004).
The results were conclusive based on the various testing methods. However, due to the sample size being so small and not representative of the target population, I believe further research should be done to generalize the results to the
