What is premature birth? A premature birth is a birth that takes place more than three weeks before the baby is due. In other words, a premature birth is one that occurs before the start of the 37th week of pregnancy. Normally, a pregnancy usually lasts about 40 weeks.

Premature birth gives the baby less time to develop in the womb. Premature babies, especially those born earliest, often have complicated medical problems.
The survival rates for a premature baby surviving rising the further along you are. Babies born at 23 weeks may survive with these specialists in a state-of-the-art NICU but the odds of survival are much lower”. A baby being born at 21 weeks survived and was reported to be a miracle. As the pregnancy progresses the chances of survival increase. Many babies that survive being born premature will most likely have long term health complications.
The birth of a child is supposed to be the most joyous time in of a person’s life. However, not all are as lucky as some and have the misfortune of giving birth prematurely, and losing their new baby. According to World Health Organization “Almost 1 million children die each year due to complications of preterm birth.” Most expectant parents and families are not educated on the risks and difficulties of premature birth, therefore they cannot take the necessary precautions to ensure they have a healthy full term delivery.…
