Throughout the Capstone Project, I have learned that college is expensive and being an Early Childhood Educator might be something I really want to be. It would be better for me to go to a two-year technical school, and then transfer to a four-year college. This process would allow me to save money so that I will not be paying student loans for many years. I have learned what it takes to become a teacher, and I am highly interested. The characteristics a teacher must have are patience, self-control, creativity, and leadership skills.…

Personal Philosophy I believe that all children are unique and bring their own knowledge and experiences to any educational environment. I believe the early childhood environment is a place for children to be free agents to; develop, learn, grow and express themselves, while having the confidence and respect they as a person are entitled to. Furthermore I also belie that all children have the right to learn and their learning be abundant with experiences, knowledge and quality, as well as feeling a sense of belonging to their community and learning environment. These beliefs are important to my teaching and my philosophy of early childhood eduction.…

Situational Framework The Article “What Makes Good Early childhood Teachers” by Sally Cartwright writes about how she traveled New Zealand and met other teachers as she visited five kindergartens. During her trip she conversed with other teachers from New Zealand and they came to the conclusion that both American and New Zealand schools struggle to obtain first-rate teachers. This discussion led to the group of educators to derive a list of the values and qualities that typically make up a first rate teacher.…

For the three positions I selected, I thought of an entry level position in which I could “get my feet wet” in and feel it would not be too overwhelming. I feel Early Childhood Educators would be a great way to get to know the community and families, not to mention I already have my Paraprofessional license, in which case it would not be hard to transfer nor with my degree be hard to get the proper teacher licensing. For my second choice as an Educator Director, I felt that I was already involved with the place I would work for and be advancing my degree into an MA would also be an opportunity to advance my career. Having several years of employment in my field and knowing more of what an employer wants, not to mention having the opportunity…

In general, every early childhood education program is an important start for a young child’s development. Children ages three to six years old in most places around the world are enrolled in some form of early childhood education school. There are two types of preschool programs for children of this age, child-centered programs and teacher-centered programs. A recent study on social and emotional risk and protective factors that predict early school problems or success found that "children who do not begin kindergarten socially and emotionally competent are often not successful in the early years of school—and can be plagued by behavioral, emotional, academic, and social development problems that follow them into adulthood (U.S Department of Health and Human Services). " Creating a positive social relationship is an important outcome of preschool, possibly more important is avoiding social isolation. Research shows that it is possible to predict as early as preschool the kind of children who will have social and academic problems, because they are already either overlooked or casted off by other children. To develop positive social relationships it is important to build relationships with parents so that children feel safe, secure, and comfortable with their teachers. Provide opportunities for children to work and play together.…
