Skeeter lived in Jackson,Mississippi with her mother, she always dreamt of being a writer, her mother wanted her to be a wife. Skeeter would gather up with some of the African American maids and write their stories to later put in her book. Skeeter tries to help maids gain the rights that they deserve. At first the maids are a little scared to put their stories out there due to them thinking she would betray all of em. Later on they all start telling Skeeter their stories,some of how their children were killed, they were forced into slavery, mistreated, etc. Skeeter then writes the own story of her own maid, Skeeter had a close relationship with the maid hired to take care of her as a child, Constantine. Skeeter’s mother fired Constantine after Constantine’s daughter, whom came to visit Constantine when very important people were over.
