One of the leading examples of prejudice today is homophobia. Often times, not always, the LGBT community is treated unfairly. For example, when applying for a job, a heterosexual may be considered more qualified than a homosexual. According to workplacefairness.org, a gay, lesbian, or bisexual individual sometimes will not be hired or promoted, disciplined more harshly, given less health benefits, or in some cases even fired. There are even cases where an employer or boss will harass an employee by commenting about their sexual activity or make sexual jokes or remarks. In addition to being treated unfairly at a job, there are businesses that have an anti-gay policy and will not hire, wait on, or sell to a gay, bisexual, or lesbian individual even if they meet all other requirements. Just based on these two things, people are very quick to judge without considering a persons background. It is often thought that a person wearing Nike shoes, carrying a Coach purse, driving a nice car, or wearing nice clothes, is automatically rich.
