Prejudice And Racism: The Story Of Fu. En Paki

“Fu**en Paki.” I remember the moment so vividly. The sheer anger and disbelief I went through, thinking racism and ignorance still occurs in this multicultural country. For that boy the story end right there, not remembering me, what was said, or what happened the next day. The story continues, however for me and will continue as long as memory holds.
In the never-ending present of memory, I slip back into the game, seeing the referees in their black and white uniforms, my coach roaring against the call, even the rain pelting the roofs of nearby cars. Talking off my helmet as I walk over to the refs I notice one of the opposing team’s player watching me. I urged the ref to reconsider the interference call, since he clearly sold the hit. The younger assistant ref ran over, with the eyeballer, and argued, it was a dive and nothing more.

After failing to do so, he began to walk away, but not before angrily yelling those words, those two words that sent me off the edge. “Fu**en Paki,” he yelled, looking back to give smug smile. Furiously I headed towards him, not knowing what was going to happen next, not knowing what I was going to say to him. Reaching over his shoulder, I grabbed his jersey and pulled him back, and savagely hit him across the jaw. The vicious blow left him dazed, and I punch him again this time knocking him to the ground. To this day I regret walking up to the boy. I was suspended for three weeks. Not allowed to attend any games or practice, and striped of my

“Despite the influx of peoples which would occur from the Empire and commonwealth, the government displayed an initial reluctance to allow migration from these destinations because of the desire, as Kathleen Paul (1997) and Ian spencer (1997) have demonstrated, to keep Britain white.” (Panayi 248) The home country is not disposed towards immigration. In Panayi’s Immigration, Multiculturalism, and Racism, she analyzes how immigrants are discouraged from migrating to Great Britain, during the post-World War Two era. One example, shown above, is when Panayi examines the population of Great Britain’s stance towards allowing refugees and immigrants into the country.…

POST #2 Watching Carlos lecture on recitatif, this is an informative and gives us a wider view of how racism goes about and how we are all participants in it no matter what we perceive ourselves to be. He starts by giving us two names and ask us to pick which race the two belong too. And he gives you a few seconds to make your judgment. He then says, if you made a judgement or even thought about who belongs to what race, its shows you identify with race. I will agree with him on that, because if you don’t identify with race, you should not think or make a judgment.…

The chapter begins with the historic achievement of Barack Obama and ends with the differing circumstances/perceptions of the Rev. Jesse Jackson and his son Congressman Jesse Jackson III. There were many times when I saw players push each other or make contact, and I didn't make a call because it did not affect the play or it helped the team of the player that was fouled. I also did not make calls when the contact was equal between both players and neither got an advantage from…

This is because American nationality is awarded to someone based on whether or not they possesses citizenship papers -- which anyone can apply for. Despite the diversity in this country, there is a clear white privileged majority who have never known the other side of the immigration story. For this reason, Gene Luen Yang strives to elicit a greater understanding of immigrant struggles for members of the white majority in his graphic novel American Born Chinese.…

Philips believes that the Canadian ideology puts importance of white European cultures and values over any other race including but not limited to: Native and African. Examples used to disclose the inequality amongst cultures and preference toward white supremacy are Canada’s…

David Henry Hwang tries to show injustices of the united states when it comes to the Broadway show who tried to cast a white man as the main role in the Asian Broadway play. He hoped to end discrimination, and try to get the roles filled by real Asian-American’s than by men in so called yellow face. He tries to show how easy it is for anyone to pass themselves off as multiple races, and it is a very narrow problem when it comes to this specific ethnicity. The very thing that is making the issue so complex is the fact this is such a sensitive issue when it comes to the general public about discrimination.…

Provincial discrimination means unfair treatment between people of different provinces i.e. giving more rights to one province while not fulfilling the rights of other provinces. Just like racism provincial discrimination is a very common type of discrimination in the world many nations and countries have faced it before and are still facing it. Provincial Discrimination can occur in two ways: it can be at government level or it could be among people. A person cannot be a true patriot until he loves all his country fellows irrespective of their province, also a person cannot reach the highest levels of nationalism until he calls…
