Prejudice And Racism: The Story Of Fu. En Paki

“Fu**en Paki.” I remember the moment so vividly. The sheer anger and disbelief I went through, thinking racism and ignorance still occurs in this multicultural country. For that boy the story end right there, not remembering me, what was said, or what happened the next day. The story continues, however for me and will continue as long as memory holds.
In the never-ending present of memory, I slip back into the game, seeing the referees in their black and white uniforms, my coach roaring against the call, even the rain pelting the roofs of nearby cars. Talking off my helmet as I walk over to the refs I notice one of the opposing team’s player watching me. I urged the ref to reconsider the interference call, since he clearly sold the hit. The younger assistant ref ran over, with the eyeballer, and argued, it was a dive and nothing more.
“He was barely touched” he says.
“It was a headshot” the boy answer, now more angry than ever.
