Exposure to the world grows as a person ages, as people mature they start to associate other people, animals, and even places with certain ideas. Parents will talk about something and their children will remember what they associated with that, and believe that everybody has the same association in mind. Though most stereotypes are FLAWED, many people NEGLECT the fact they are wrong with certain associations. Based on the image of a person or place, peoples minds are "primed" or "prepared" to react in a way based on past experiences.
One of the most apparent issues in the world right now is racism. It's almost become a "who's lives matter the most" war, people of both races see what the media shows, which always seems to set people off, and not the other things that …show more content…
Bystanders are more likely to step in and help a well dressed white woman that has suddenly collapsed, but do not react as quickly, if at all, to a black homeless man. When people are asked why they did help the white lady a common response was "Wanted to make sure she was ok", and "it's what I could do". People want to make sure that the 'higher class" lady was ok, and was not hurt. When people were asked why they passed up the homeless black man common responses were "What could I have done?", and "I assumed he was ok". Passerby do not seem to care about the "lower class" man because they don't have a "connection" with that man. People of the same image will go straight to help said person in s predicament. Social images carry through out most of America, which is a large part of why it sticks around, if a certain area tries to fix the issue, other parts of the country where it is still happening are not affected. Trying to fix problems similar to these is almost an impossible task, people will always react differently based on a persons social
