The embryo might not implant in the uterus or implant outside. Can’t be 00% accurate so there is still a chance of disease
In New Zealand there are regulations of the use Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis and IVF people can get PGD and screening with IVf if they are either 36 year or older, for females who inherit genetic diseases or recurrent miscarriages.
The disadvantages of PGD:
-Samples may be lost or damaged during transport to the laboratory.
-Some embryos have failed the autobiopsy as they may have not reached the right stage of development.
-Or some embryos will not survive the cell biopsy
-Around 1%-2% of embryos might be damaged during the embryo biopsy
-The cost of PGD and IVF which is around $3000 or more additional cost for the process.
- The side effects of the drugs given during treatment interact with the pituitary gland and the hormonal system.
Therefore the following systems may occur: Acne, Lack of concentration, Nausea, Tender breast ,Hot flushes, Fatigue and Abdominal bloating
-Some abnormalities may be missed
