Register to read the introduction… Parenchyma, the most profuse ground tissue, consists of thin-walled which are metabolically active cells that carry out a variety of functions in the plant which includes photosynthesis and storage. Parenchyma cells are also responsible for healing in the plant, this tissue can go through cell division and regenerate when needed. Collenchyma tissue is composed of narrow, elongated cells with thick primary walls which provide structural support to the growing plant body that are not growing and are not fully established, particularly shoots, and their thickened walls are not woody, so they can stretch as the organ elongates. Sclerenchyma is the ground tissue that provides structural support to the parts of the plant that are no longer growing. It consists of two types of cells, sclereids and fibers cells provide mechanical support, particularly to parts of the plant that are no longer elongating. Fibers are long and thin and are responsible for many materials you use on a daily basis, such as clothing fabrics and rope. Sclereids are compact and dense, and they are what makes up that tough texture in apple cores (Taiz, L. and Zeiger, E., n.d.).

Meristematic tissue, it is in this region where new cells are produce. Dermal tissue provides a protective cover for the entire body of a plant. Ground tissue is responsible for the plants metabolic functions. Vascular tissue transports materials like water and nutrients between the root and the shoot system. They are arranged finely in the regions of the plants organ. For example in roots, stem and leaves the arrangements of these tissues are the same. The dermal tissue is located on the outer part, ground tissue is between the dermal and vascular tissue and the meristematic tissue has three main types the apical meristem that occurs in the tips of stems and roots, intercalary meristem takes between the tip and base of stems and leaves and lateral meristem occurs at the side of stems and roots.
