Predictable and Unpredictable Life Events Essay
A life event can change the direction of our lives, affecting our personal development. Some major changes in life can be predicted and even chosen, while others may be unpredicted. Predictable life events, such as starting school, going through puberty and retiring from work, often mark a transition from one stage of life to another, acting as milestones in our personal development. Unpredictable life events, such as sudden illness or injury, redundancy or the death of a friend or relative, occur unexpectedly and are often associated with loss, but may also lead to positive change in our lives.

Marriage can change the dynamics of one another’s social life. When single, people tend to have their own sets of friends that they spend time with and go out with. When marriage this changes as couples tend to spend time with other married couples and spend time with each other’s friends. Furthermore the types of social activities usually change too. When single people tend to go to places such as pubs and clubs whereas married couples tend to spend time together at their homes on the weekends and order in food. Additionally they may go to restaurants together or spend time with other couples.
At the age of 18 Cheryl lost her grandma, this could have several negative affects on her development.
Bereavement can have serious health effects both physically and mentally. The physical effects can include lack of appetite. Lack of appetite can lead to a person losing weight and not getting enough nutrients in their body. Additionally a large amount of stress can be caused as a result of a loss of a close person.
