The Ethical Issues of Walmart Corporation Walmart is one of the largest supply chains in the world. The firm has been growing tremendously over 40 years in terms of market share, market capitalization and it continues expanding to other regions in the global market. The Walton family is the founder of the organization and the party posses nearly 90 percent of the company’s asset and capital. Although Walmart performs fairly well in the business operations and it generates substantial profits for its investors. In order to meet its substantial amount of goods, Walmart demands foreign employees to work long hours with minimal wages. For instance, one woman has worked more than 70 hours per week in the Walmart factory in Bangladesh, but only earned $37/month for more than 6 consecutive months (Ostendorf, 2015). Likewise, the unsafe working condition in Walmart’s workplace is another critical issue for its workers. For example, Jdimytai Damour was killed in the New York factory due to the Black Friday shopping deal (Obernauer, 2015). Therefore, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) levied a $7,000 fine to Walmart due to unsafe place. Finally, hire right candidates will help companies achieves their goals and objectives in terms of financial performance and avoid unethical behavior to improve an organization’s image and reputation in the society.
