Precious Puppies Case Study

Precious Puppies

Anchor Brooklyn :
Hello, and welcome back to Chungling News on channel seven. I’m Brooklyn Frey and today we have found some interesting new news about the cost of puppies and dogs. The price of a dog ranges from 25 dollars up to 3,000 dollars. Sometimes it's even higher. The cost depends on what kind of dog you buy. Adopting a dog from a shelter is much cheaper than buying a dog from a breeder.

Anchor Julia:
(Towards Brooklyn and then Camera) That’s right, Brooklyn. Most new pet owners underestimate how much it really costs to own a dog. Nowadays, it seems that most of them only think about the cost of the dog and it's food. Well they're sadly mistaken. There is so much more to it!

Anchor Brooklyn:
There’s the vaccinations,

She’s going to tell us about her expensive buy that costed less over time.

Brody:
Thanks, Brooklyn. Alright, Tessa. What happened when you bought your extremely pricey pooch?

Tessa:
Yes, well, a few years ago I bought my dog Arnold for 2,500 dollars. Arnold was expensive, I must admit, but he came with papers saying that his parents did not have health problems, which is good news. Arnold also came with shots, a crate and a care manual. I was hoping it would mean that there wouldn’t be as many health bills later on and I was right! Of course there were small incidents, like the time Arnold ate a bit of barbecue-cleaning brush, that costed so much money to take care of! That incident alone costed me 1,200 dollars.

Brody:
That’s crazy, Tessa. Now, have you experienced the no-health-problem puppy before? Or have you bought another expensive dog that came with problems?

Tessa:
No, I haven’t yet bought another expensive dog. But I have experienced something like that. I got my last dog, Jake, from a shelter. I bought him for a reasonable price but, in the long run, he ended up costing me a lot of money. More money than Arnold! Jake had injured one knee before I got him, then a few months later, another knee. Surgery and follow-up care for Jake costed $8,000. I mean, he’s my dog so I get a lot of love in return, but paying that much money was

Sandy seemed like a great dog. Thank you so much for coming in today and sharing with us.

Lynn:
No problem!

Brooklyn P:
Now, back to you, Brooklyn.

Anchor Brooklyn:
Thanks Brooklyn. Now, besides food and vet care, dogs need fences, carriers, treats and toys. They may need training, dog walking and teeth cleaning. Also on the list are medicines to fight harmful insects like ticks and fleas. Still more costs can come from having to get the carpets cleaned, fix screen doors, and re-create the dug up garden.

Anchor Julia:
Most new dog owners do not realize how much time a dog requires, either. Dogs need training, time with other dogs and people, and whatever it takes to have a good home life. If your dog is unhealthy, the costs will get even higher. Allergies and eye troubles may show up later. These and other conditions could call for expensive care.

Anchor Brooklyn:
Even though dogs can be expensive, as well as the care that they need after their adoption, they are great pets that you can count on to love you like no other.

Anchor Julia:
Well, that’s all for today. We’ll see you next time on Chungling News, Channel

My options were to get rid of it, pay $350, or to give it to a friend. Considering that $350 is about half of my savings, paying so much for a pet is not smart. I went with giving the pet to a friend because I don’t have to pay the expensive fee for it and I don’t have to send it to a shelter where they might not take care of it as well as the friend might do. Another hard decision I had to make was when some person came up to me and asked if I want to join a union to get a raise in money.…

One of the biggest decisions someone could ever do is whether to adopt a dog from a rescue group or buy a puppy from a breeder. There are several major differences to consider before making a final choice. While both are viable options, the differences and similarities between adopting and purchasing animals are pronounced and deserve a thorough investigation before choosing the right course of action for your lifestyle. Three of the major variations between adopting and purchasing dogs are the health, price, and complicity of taking it home. With a rescue dog the specific breed of the dog may be unknown, but at least the rescue will be able to provide the type of personality it has.…

When receiving a new puppy, kitten, or some sort of animal owner’s do not think about spaying or neutering the animal. Most of the time when animals are taken to the veterinarian the owner speaks to the vet about the pros and cons to performing this procedure on the animal. The vet will typically tell them mostly pros about the surgery but they also tell them about the few cons because by law they have to tell the owner about any cons or anything that could go wrong. In the end the owner typically decides to go through with the procedure because of the several pros that the surgery offers. Typically the cost, medical benefits, and the pets health come to mind when deciding to have the surgery or not.…

Cloning pets, or animals in general, is a controversial topic. However controversial it is, it is still waste of useful money and is generally cruel in nature. While others may root for the advancement in technology, it is not worth the suffering and distress that follows, especially regarding health defects and the surrogate mother. Should we really risk all of that for cloning your pet? Cloning your pet is extremely expensive.…

Topic: Adopting and Rescuing Animals Specific Purpose: To persuade my effective speaking class the benefits of adopting a pet over buying one from a breeder or pet store. Central Idea: Adopting animals and rescuing is much more beneficial than buying an animal from a pet store because you won’t be unknowingly or knowingly supporting a puppy mill, you will be saving an animal’s life, and you will feel better overall in the end about rescuing your new pet rather than buying. INTRODUCTION Attention-Getter: According to Humane Society of the United States organization’s website I accessed on December 6, 2016, “Each year, 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States, simply because too many pets come into shelters and…
