Multiple users of a supplement called, pre-workout, do not understand what they are putting into their body and how it effects them. Nearly seventy percent of adolescents and young adults have admitted to using a nutritional supplement before exercise at least once. (Gonzalez, Walsh, Ratamess, Kang, Hoffman, 2011). Many people believe that this popular rising product helps improve performance and delay fatigue while working out. It is a product used by multiple young adults that are uneducated on why pre-workout supplements change their focus and energy level (Spradley, Crowley, Tai, Kendal, Fukuda, Esposito, Moon, 2012). A variety of studies have been done to research how much of an effect pre-workout supplements have on athlete’s performance and concentration. A university in Central Florida did a study on the effects of pre-workout supplements on acute multi-joint resistance training. They performed a controlled experiment with eight resistance-trained men that had no prescriptions or health issues. The men were set under a controlled diet to be sure that the different types of food they ate did not affect the results. Overall, the pre-workout supplement resulted in more repetitions that allowed a peak performance during the workout. In this study, pre-workout resulted in a positive effect on the athlete’s workout. The university concluded that the supplements resulted in being more focused while working out, delayed fatigue, and achieving more repetitions by the men. The ingredient of caffeine that was inserted into the supplement caused an increase in one’s heart rate, which is the ingredient that is responsible for increasing the effort enforced by the athletes (Gonzalez, et. al,
